GRMPA News & Updates

Leadership

GRMPA is led by an Executive Committee, who preside over meetings, manage the calendar, correspondence, and finances and communicate to GRMPA and the public. In addition, several committees are established to run and maintain the various activities required to support Glen Ridge music programs.

Meetings and Minutes

Meetings
GRMPA meetings are scheduled nine times a year, September through June, on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30 PM  in the Chorus room at Glen Ridge High School. All Glen Ridge music parents are invited and encouraged to attend.

Team leads report on progress at these meetings and we are kept informed of the ever-changing GRMPA and musical activities. Meeting dates are published and viewable on the calendar page on this website as well as the Glen Ridge Public Schools Calendar.

11/06/2021 USBands National Championships, MetLife Stadium

National Champions! Watch as the Glen Ridge High School Marching Band is announced as the winner of the USBands National Championships in Group 1 Open Class. The announcer read their score as 89.8 but their actual score was 90.1 and they were the only band to break the coveted 90-pt barrier!

11/05/16 Allentown, PA USBands National Championships: GRHSMB places 3rd in group 1A with season-best score of 92.025 points (note – first part of video is sped up).

10/30/16 Bloomfield, NJ 35th Annual Fall band Invitational: GRHSMB wins first place in their class with a rating of Superior. They also took all awards in their class: Best Music, Best Percussion and Best Color Guard. In addition they won Best Percussion overall from all 10 bands performing that day. Congratulations.

10/29/16 USBands Basking Ridge, NJ Competition: GRHSMB wins 1st place with 5 awards and a score of 89.575. Caption Awards for Best Color Guard, Best Music, Best Overall Effect, Best Percussion and Best Visual!

10/23/16 USBands NJ State Championships: 2nd Place in Group 1A with a terrific score of 86.088

navels_boxesOur citrus sale is one of our most successful fundraisers. Money raised from the sale is used to help fund music programs at Glen Ridge High School.

Come by the train station Friday, November 17 from 5pm – 8pm and listen to the GRHS Band serenade commuters on their way home.

The next morning SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 18TH, the music students will be hitting the streets of Glen Ridge knocking on every door in town for our annual Citrus Sale.

We are selling 20-pound bags of citrus (oranges, grapefruits, and mixed bags) for the incredibly reasonable price of $25/bag.

Order fruit for delivery on March 3rd to help beat the winter cold and flu season while you’re here online.

Double your generosity and help those in need locally by purchasing a bag of citrus for the local food pantry or soup kitchen.  You pick the delivery time (December or March) and we do the delivering for you!

Group HugDonations to the Glen Ridge Music Parents Association make great things happen in our community!

In the last three years, through the generous support of the public, GRMPA has been able to:

  • Purchase 3 pianos including a concert-quality grand piano for Glen Ridge schools and used also by community groups such as the Gas Lamp Players, the High School chorus and madrigals, and many others;
  • Provide trips to Boston or Williamsburg for members of the concert bands and choir for music clinics and competitions;
  • Underwrite of many costs from Color Guard costumes to buses, sousaphone, drum line harnesses and more for the award winning Glen Ridge Marching Band;
  • Underwrite costs for the Glen Ridge Summer Music Academy;
  • Sponsors a new Winter Color Guard program, to serve as a feeder program for our Marching Band Color Guard;
  • Purchase or repair musical instruments that belong to Glen Ridge High School after the regular budget is depleted;
